No, they don't sell Christmas Trees! (Then again, they probably do, closer to Christmas) The Christams Tree Shop Department Store has loads of things for the home, nice gifts, candles, books, kitchen gadgets, rugs, prints, lamps, dry goods, toys... a department store with a little class and a lot of character. "Don't you just love a bargain?" |

The Robert Frost Farm |
|
(603) 432-3091 |
|
| |
Robert Frost (1874 - 1963) was a Pulitzer Prize winning poet who lived on a farm just up the road in Derry, NH. Along with his farming, Frost also taught at Pinkerton Academy, Derry's High School. Although he left Derry in 1912, the time he spent there is credited with providing the inspiration for much of his later works. The Robert Frost Farm is available for tours, and is a highly recommended stop on a visit to the area. Along with a glimpse of turn of the century farm life in New Hampshire, the inspirations for Frost's poetry can be clearly seen. Be sure to take the walking tour of the property, during which you will see the very stone walls refered to in "Mending Walls."

Americas's Stonehenge (Mystery Hill) |
|
(603) 893-8300 |
|
| |
Open from late March to November, America's Stonehenge is the name of the megalith in North Salem, New Hampshire. The site is sometimes referred to as "Mystery Hill". Stonehenge, it is a fascinating archeological site. The site has many subterranean stone structures, standing stones, and stone walls. Most of the structures and stones are oriented with astronomical significance. The Watch House, for example, is aligned directly for illumination of it's crystaline back wall on February 1st. The exact history of America's Stonehenge reamins uncertain. Carbon dating of artifacts found at the site reveal dates from 2,000 B.C. to 995 B.C. The astronomical orientation of the stones suggest a date of around 2,000 B.C. The architecture seems to fit in with ancient Celtic building styles. |

OOooh... those Baby Back Ribs. If you saw Austin Powers II that jingle has a whole new effect upon you, but don't let it keep you away from Chili's... just a few miles from us, a great little watering hole and trough. Be careful when you stand up- those overhead lamps will knock you silly. |

Aaahhh... for a special night... and if you're not in a hurry. Very rich, Italian cuisine. They've got strolling musicians and martinis that don't mess around. Wear something a little bit dressy for the dining room. The bar is casual. Reservations recommended. |

A new favorite of many Troupers, This converted barn has high ceilings with exposed beams, a roaring fireplace, and a good old rustic, New England atmosphere. The upstairs bar has cushy couches and board games, with a big wagon full of cheese and crackers. (Fill up there for free, or spend lots more on their food which is a little pricey but r-r-really good.) |

Big thumbs up from both Michael and Fred! Just down the road form The Troupe, they've got serious sandwiches (like blackened tuna steak on a sesame roll). In the mood for apps? Perhaps their artichoke chowder oysters on the half shell with champagne mignonette will suffice? Oooh, This place is good. |
